This is a software feature announcement, not a host migration rule

Apple Podcasts for Creators published its feature overview on 14 September 2026. It describes additions for iOS 27, tvOS 27 and macOS 27, including expanded video podcast support, read-along transcripts and new search tools. The page’s release date is not proof that every listener already has the relevant operating-system version.

The distinction matters for planning. A feature described for an upcoming OS version does not automatically require a creator to change an RSS feed or re-upload every episode today. First confirm that the listener’s device and software version support the feature.

What changes for video episodes

Apple says video episodes across iOS, iPadOS, macOS and visionOS include read-along transcripts, chapters and media links. Its macOS section says video episodes are labelled and playback opens in video, with full-screen and Picture in Picture options. The tvOS section describes a redesigned app and video podcast support.

For a creator, this is a reason to review the video episode’s accessibility and chapter metadata as part of publishing. Apple’s overview does not say that every existing audio-only episode becomes a video episode, or that creators must convert their back catalogue.

Search in show and larger text

The new Search in Show bar is described as a way to find an episode or a topic mentioned in a transcript. That may make a large catalogue easier to explore, but it does not guarantee a particular show will be indexed identically in every region or release.

Apple also lists support for larger accessibility text sizes across several operating systems. Its note says availability may differ by country and region. Creators should check the current Apple feature availability page and test their own show after the relevant software rollout rather than promising the same experience to every subscriber.
